We understand that getting your ears pierced for the first time can be daunting. Our friendly, fully trained and experienced staff are on-hand to calm any nerves by providing you with reassurance and ensure an overall safe and hygienic piercing experience. Additionally, our secluded area at the Grosvenor Centre showroom, away from the hustle and bustle of the centre, offers you a more comfortable and relaxed environment for your ear-piercing appointment.
You might have questions before deciding to book an appointment, so we hope you find all the answers you need here.
How safe is the ear-piercing procedure?
We use the Inverness System that has two unique features designed to ensure the safest ear-piercing experience possible:
- Inverness is the only ear-piercing system with fully enclosed earring capsules that prevent the piercing earrings and safety backs from being exposed to potential contaminants prior to piercing. The earring backs are sealed in sterilized cartridges that are not opened until selected for piercing.
- The exclusive safety backs from Inverness allow for the safest healing possible by shielding the piercing tip and preventing the earring back from being squeezed too tight. This allows for proper airflow and prevents the earring back from becoming embedded during the healing process.
- Be rest assured that our fully trained staff will take all the necessary precautions to offer you a safe and hygienic ear-piercing experience.
- We will ensure to use safety measures such as washing our hands/wearing gloves and using hand sanitizer where necessary.
Most people report they feel no discomfort at all when pierced with the Inverness System. This may be why:
- Unlike loud piercing guns that shoot a spring-loaded piercing earring through the back tissue, our hand-pressured instrument is smooth and quiet.
- The Inverness system will pierce your ears and attach the safety backs in one quick, smooth motion.
What type of earrings do you offer?
We offer earrings made of hypoallergenic materials; titanium and 14ct/18ct yellow gold.
We only offer stud earrings. We do not recommend using other styles such as hoops or drop earrings during the healing period. This is because they are more likely to catch on to things like clothing and hair which can cause discomfort or even injury. Stud earrings provide a more secure and comfortable option as your piercing heals, ensuring a safer experience.
How long does it take for an ear piercing to heal?
The healing process of an ear-piercing depends on every individual. However, it commonly takes anywhere from 6-8 weeks for your ears to fully heal. It is imperative that you are patient and take good care of your ears during the healing period.
If you experience unusual pain, prolonged redness, swelling, or discharge, contact us or a healthcare professional to ensure your piercing is healing correctly.
How do I take care of my new ear-piercing?
Proper care and patience are essential for a smooth healing process. With every ear-piercing appointment, you will receive a free dermatologist Inverness Aftercare Solution. This dermatologist-tested solution is specially designed to soothe and cleanse your newly-pierced ears without the drying or chapping that can come from rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.
We suggest the following steps to clean your ear-piercing:
- It is important that you always thoroughly wash your hands before handling your ears.
- Clean the front and back of the piercing site 2-3 times daily. Using the aftercare solution we have provided you with, using a cotton bud and gently apply it in circular motions on the pierced area.
- Gently rotate the earrings completely to prevent the earring from adhering to your ear. Although, do not do this
- Exercise caution when doing certain daily activities. E.g. brushing your hair, removing clothing or participating in sports.
- Avoid applying hair products or perfume near to the pierced area. If unavoidable, ensure you carry out the cleaning procedure immediately after.
- Avoid swimming in pools, hot tubs, the sea etc. until your piercing is fully healed, as these areas can harbour bacteria causing more risk of infection.
Can I change my earrings right after getting my ears pierced?
Unfortunately, no. Your ears have already been through some pressure, and it is important to allow your piercing to completely heal before you change over the earrings. Once your ears have fully healed, you are more than welcome to visit our showroom where we have an extensive range of different types of earrings. Alternatively, browse here for our online range.
To avoid your pierced ears from closing, we highly recommend that you keep your earrings in for the first 6 months after your ear piercing.
How old do you have to be to get your ears pierced at your showroom?
We offer ear piercings for children ages 7 and above. Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
How much does an ear-piercing cost?
We offer a free ear-piercing service with the purchase of any earrings. The prices of our earrings start from £40.00.

We currently only do ear-piercing at our Grosvenor Centre showroom in Northampton.
