As proud stockists of Fabergé jewellery, when we learnt that there was going to be a Fabergé exhibition in the V&A, many staff members jumped at the chance of attending, managing to buy tickets for the very popular event and making it into a little MJJ field trip.
It was an incredible exhibition. The chance to see a collection like this from private collections, all in one place was a once in a lifetime treat.
The highlight of the event for us, was the final room showcasing the eggs in a darkened gallery with cabinets proudly displaying the most stunning eggs. The “Mosaic” Egg being a showstopper in the collection. Photographs do not do this egg justice. The skills of the craftsmen back without the technologies that we have the luxury of using now was incredible. The use of negative space and gemstones to create the illusion of needlepoint embroidery was phenomenal.
Shortly after, Luke and Stuart were invited by Fabergé to a private viewing with other retailed from all over Europe just before the event closed. They got to see the newest "Game of Thrones" Egg and were treated to a wonderful event.
